Modern roofing materials have progressed to such a degree they can now fully protect, and enhance, the roof structure of both modern and existing dwellings. To help ventilate, protect against bird damage, keep the rain out, and negate the need for gable end pointing, Magden stocks the following products.
Roofing felt perishes over a period of time, and is at it's most vulnerable at the lower end, the eaves. This is where the felt can sag and water can collect, this is called ponding. After some time the ponding effect causes the felt to rot and rupture allowing the water access to the inside of the roofing system. The Eaves Guard/Felt Support Tray prevents this as it is rigid enough to prevent the overlappng felt to sag/pond and is plastic and so avoids the natural breakdown process. Easy to install, this product is a must for all new and replacement installations.

Dry Verge is installed to the gable end of houses to prevent against the natural weather damage caused by the cycling of wind, rain and the sun, the result of which cracks the pointing which used to be favoured by house builders. Cracked pointing allows moisture into the roofing system, causing untold damage, and inevitably becomes a costly repair situation. Normally fixed in interlocking pieces per tile, or in a single continuous strip, this product is a real roof saver.
Bird Comb is a simple and easy to use product. As its name implies, it prevents our feathered friends from entering the roofing structure via the shaped tiles which some roofs are built with. Bird droppings and nests can cause a real hazard to health, as well as leave unsightly mess around the house, and can also cause damage to timbers etc. The comb stands up in the undulations of tiles and acts as a barrier, and is very economical to use.

Over Fascia Ventilator is used to implement the ventilation requirements of the building regulations. It ensures that continuous airflow is available throughout the roofing system, thereby allowing the roof to 'breathe'. This product is fixed to the top of the fascia boards, and sits between them and the tiles. An extremely important part of any fascia and soffit installation, this clever product will provide the 10mm continuous airflow needed for all roofs of 15° pitch or over. A 25mm vent is required for roofs of a lesser pitch.
Lead Flashing is a traditional building product, and natural material, that is used on a large amount of rooflines throughout the UK. Being a very malleable material, and durable to weather extremes, this product is used where joints in the roofing system need to be protected, such as hips etc. Available in varying thicknesses, such as Code 3 and Code 4, Magden lead flashing (supplied by Midland Lead) can be used on house roofs, conservatory roofs, canopies, door surrounds etc.

Flash Banding from Everbuild is available in Trade or DIY grades. Each DIY roll contains a 250ml tin of primer. This product is applied from the roll, and is adhesive backed, which means it simply requires rolling firmly onto the surface in need of attention. These products are available in many different sizes. Please ask at your local branch for details.
Breather Membranes are not only extremely strong and durable, but also combine excellent waterproof protection with a high vapour transmission. Their high permeability allows water vapour to pass freely through to the tile area where it can easily disperse, therefore reducing moisture within the roof, and protecting the construction against the potentially damaging effects of condensation. They are an ideal underlay for use as part of a construction designed to meet today's requirements for energy efficient roofs. Their advanced composition provides a consistently high performance, and all the protection you need against wind driven rain and snow.
